Los Angeles-based EDM-producer, ZHU just sent me his latest remix, a take on Pink Floyd‘s “Shine On You Crazy Diamond.” I like that this is not another remix of “Call Me Maybe” or “Somebody That I Used to Know” but “Shine on You Crazy Diamond” is even a little obscure for me. Besides a small section in the middle, it is hard to tell this is even a remix. Still the glitchy, almost-dubstep sound of the remix is pretty solid.

DJ J-Scrilla just dropped his new mixtape, Capitol Punishment Vol. 2 over on DatPiff. Coming from that mixtape, is Lyriciss new track “Get It & Go,0″ the Illastrate remix. The track reminds me of old school Little Brother.

Who doesn’t love a good fez? Of course in modern culture, people mostly associate fezzes with Shriners and Aladdin’s monkey but there was a time when fezzes were associated with royalty. Jen Schande is trying to single-handedly bring back the fez with her new single, “Nice Fez” from the upcoming album, 19: Songs for and Inspired by Valencia Chapter 19. New York producer, DJ Nemysis has been dropping remixes pretty regularly but he just released his first original, “Sweet n Sour.” The track is a Porter Robinson-style progressive house anthem.

North Carolina production duo, Styles&Complete just sent me their latest track, a take on Frank Ocean‘s “Think About You.” The remix is a laid-back dubstep take on the tune.

Atlanta, GA’s Brei just sent me her new track, “Wild Flame.” The track’s production from ChaseTheArtist is a mixture of R&B and dubstep. Also, Tallahassee rappers After the Smoke add a solid verse around the two minute mark.

Texas punk band, Riverboat Gamblers are preparing to release their new album, The Wolf You Feed next week. The album’s latest single is “Comedians” which does not sound overly punk. It sounds like The Von Bondies with a country twinge.

It is hard to listen to Baby Monster‘s new track “City of Lovers” and not think of another recent city song, “Midnight City.” Both are highly atmospheric, synthesizer-driven pop tracks but unlike M83, there is no hint of melancholy in Baby Monster’s track; it is just a sunny day in the city of lovers.

Clinton Sparks‘ samples The Cars on his new track “She’s A Pro.” Sparks flips “Just What I Needed” into a super poppy track about trying to have sex with a girl he met in a club.

Some artists have a lot of trouble going from primarily doing remixes to dropping originals but there have been no road blocks from Canadian, Project 46. It seems like every original they drop is hypemachine gold. Their latest original is the electro-banger “Brave Heart.”
