Babyface Monster (feat. Ace da Vinci, Kenlo Key) “Fresh”

FRESH_COVERART_1Babyface Monster and his crew bring the heat with “Fresh,” a new single from BFM’s upcoming album The Making of A Monster. The track kicks off with BFM spitting a wish list of throwback iconography in his classic flow – “I need background singers / Four ring fingers / Shell-toe Adidas / Old school beepers / 40 cal. heater right next to the penis / Loud-ass speakers / Kenwood tweeters.” Ace da Vinci provides the second verse as well as production, which samples heavily from Eric B and Rakim’s “My Melody.” With a Kendrick-esque flow, Ace brings “Fresh” into the 21st century, giving the track a new energy and forward focus. Kenlo Key wraps things up by celebrating his influences (name-checking Nas, Rakim, Heavy D, even David Ruffin) and calling out young rappers’ missteps and inauthenticity. Overall, “Fresh” is a strong tribute to old school bangers and a clear indication that The Making of A Monster will be Babyface Monster’s breakthrough album.
