Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter, Beck Pete just released her new single “Whiskey #4,” a track about “the back and forth that happens when someone decides a relationship is toxic, but they’re drawn to it.” The opening 1:30 is just Pete’s voice and guitar. The stripped down approach let’s Pete’s sultry voice shine. It also works to provide stark contrast when downtempo drums and bass synth are added to the mix. The beautifully crescendos as the bass gets louder before stripping it all away at the very end.
