Montreal’s Chiiild are preparing to release their debut EP, Synthetic Soul this Fall. The latest single from the album is “Back To Life.” The track features Zimbabwean artist, songwriter, poet and activist Shungudzo. While Chiiild’s TV on the Radio-esque verses are fine, Shungudzo’s chorus is the real star of the show. Her playful singing of the lyrics “if there’s a God, I hope she’s black/and when I die she brings me back” is a great pop moment.
