At some point, mash-ups fell out of vogue. Artists who did A vs B mashups ran into copyright issues and the inability to find places online to host their music and the genre basically died. The mashups that do still exists are the more complex ones like Girl Talk. D.veloped started as doing A vs B mashups but they have evolved past that. Case in point, “Animal Style” which uses at least fifteen samples in the span of three minutes. Unlike a lot of mashups that focus on EDM or hip-hop, “Animal Style” almost entirely relies on grunge-era samples making for a different vibe, one that is welcome as far as I am concerned.
