Mobile, Alabama’s Ferrill Gibbs will self-release his album, Significant Trees on August 12th. Surviving the Golden Age is please to premiere the album’s lead single is “The Happy Ones,” a mid-tempo piano track that is reminiscent of Ben Folds. Starting off with shuffling drums and piano, the track builds until it culminates with the entrance of fiddle played by Andy Carlson, arranger of strings for R.E.M.’s New Adventures in Hi Fi. The unfolding of the song is not only beautiful but shows a high level of attention paid to arrangement. It really is one hell of a way to kick off an album.
