Depending on what circle you run with, you probably know Franz Nicolay from different projects. To me, he will always be the multi-instrumentalist/pianist for the Hold Steady. Others remember him as accordian-player for The World/Inferno Friendship Society. But for Nicolay, he probably wants to be known for his solo work. His third album, Do The Struggle will be released on October 9. The album’s lead single is “Did Your Broken Heart Make You Who You Are?” It is hard not to listen to the track and hear some Hold Steady influence on it.
