If you watched any of the Olympic coverage, then there is a good chance you saw the advertising campaign for the Samsung Galaxy S III. The commercial debuted during the opening ceremonies and features Carmelo Anthony, Candace Parker, and Jerome Singleton. In addition to the celebrities and visuals, the commercial features Los Angeles noir-pop quartet, Leftover Cuties‘ track “Smile Big.” The song choice seems a little odd. The commercial is for a technology product yet the song has an antiquated, old timey feel. Also, the commercial includes a lot of running, biking, and jumping which is generally not associated with the Vaudevillian-style of music Leftover Cuties curate. In the end, “Smile Big” is a great song just an odd choice for the commercial.
