Atlanta band, MammaBear recently released their sophomore record, SAY via Slush Fund Recordings. Surviving the Golden Age is excited to premiere the music video for the single “Love Drug.”
The song is an amalgam of garage rock, emo, and power pop. The sound is reminiscent of Joyce Manor but the video looks like something straight out of the 90s. Filmed at Oakland Cemetery, singer/songwriter Kyle Gordon described it as “one of my favorite places in Atlanta.” Explaining the decision to film there, Gordon said “I felt the location was very apt and made the song come full circle as I’m sure many great love stories went to the grave there.” With its use of negative footage and experimental overlays, the video feels like an art school film project which helps with the 90s aesthetic.
