Minus the Bear “The Lucky Ones”

I would have called Minus the Bear one of the most consistent bands through 2007’s Planet of Ice. After that the band battled a bit of an identity crisis by producing synth-pop, lite funk, and generally overproduced pop music. “The Lucky Ones” largely sounds like a return to form for the band. The track’s complex time signatures, tapping guitars, and post-punk edge could have come from any of the band’s first three albums. It’s like a nice warm hug from an old friend.
