When it was announced that The Decemberists were in the studio with R.E.M.‘s Peter Buck, I got pretty excited. R.E.M.’s guitar maestro’s sweeping arpeggios rubbed off on their sixth full-length album, The King Is Dead. Apparently, Buck’s influence ran even deeper with The Decemberists leaking this cover of R.E.M.’s “Cuyahoga.” For me, an avid R.E.M. fan, after the iconic bass-line it is very odd to hear Colin Meloy’s voice but the band does a very nice version of the song.
