Connecticut-born singer/songwriter, Sarah McGowan has typically released songs centered around her guitar playing. Her latest single “Riding In Cars With Men” takes a very different approach. Beginning with chopped up vocals, atmospheric synths, and a finger-snapped beat, the track sounds like a dark, smoky night. As the track develops, additional synths highlight the back beat, giving the song an almost dub feel. McGowan’s voice carries the track. She has a dynamic ability to sound both strong and forlorn, sort of reminiscent of Ariana Grande.
