Premiere: Scott Gagner: Rise & Shine

scott-gagner-rise-shineNext week (January 28th), Scott Gagner will release his sophomore album, Rise & Shine. Surviving the Golden Age is pleased to bring you an exclusive full album stream.

Rise & Shine was recorded live to 2″ analog tape at Decibelle Recording in San Francisco. The album includes an amazing cast of musicians including Ken Stringfellow (Posies, Big Star, R.E.M.), John Vanderslice‘s backing band, and members of the Magik*Magik Orchestra. This beautiful, melodic, and emotionally direct set of songs was born out of a mutual love of 1970’s singer-songwriters and pre-WWII standards. Recommended for fans of Ron Sexsmith, Nick Lowe, Gillian Welch, and Harry Nilsson. It also contains a cover of The Ink Spots 1941 classic “I Don’t Want to Set the World on Fire.” The LP covers a broad range of themes, including addiction, love, friendship, and fatherhood.
