New York three, Shapes on Tape just dropped their new track “My One and Only True Love.” The track features shuffling drums overlaid with jangle pop guitars. It has a strong 80s-alternative feel to it, similar to the Smiths or The Church. Although the instrumental is great, the lyrics are worth focusing on. They are tender but insouciant as he describes his girlfriend as “she should’ve been the drummer in a riot grrl punk band in high school” and “a graduate of art school and two running space camps.”
There are currently three members of Shapes on Tape, but thanks for the nice words!
