Sleepy Zuhoski is preparing to release his debut album, Better Haze on June 1st. Surviving the Golden Age is excited to premiere the single “On a Cloud.” The track, like all the tracks on Better Haze, started off as just acoustic guitar and vocals. That process gives the track a lo-fi base to which instruments are then layered over. Shimmering electric guitars and keyboards give the track a spacy, almost-psychedelic appeal. Considering Zuhoski is singing about floating through space, the effect is warranted.
The song’s video is directed and edited by Weird Life Films and it is weird indeed. The video features a man stumbling backwards out of a bar, down a street, and then down many other streets. Some of the streets are suburbs; some are cities; some are desert. I’ll spoil the end of the video a bit for you; in the end, he does finally fall. What he falls into, you’ll just have to watch to find out.
