As an actor, Adrian Glynn is perhaps best known for his role as a villain in the series Arrow. As a musician, he has released albums as part of The Fugitives as well as solo albums. His latest solo album, morelightthannolight is due out on October 14th. Surviving the Golden Age is excited to premiere the video for the track “Old Cadogan Hotel.” The track straddles the line between Glynn’s folk roots and melancholic alt-R&B direction. The video plays on the track’s themes of loneliness and wanting by following a bodybuilder who is a hotel guest. We watch him isolate himself for the purpose of concentration and preparation all for that one moment he is finally flexing his muscles on stage. In someways the darkness and banality of the video reminds me of Darren Aronofsky’s The Wrestler. It is sad and gripping at the same time–a real must watch.
