Surviving the Golden Age is excited to premiere Alpenglow‘s Callisto. The Vermont band’s debut EP, Chapel garnered comparisons to Fleet Foxes and My Morning Jacket. One their debut full-length album, Alpenglow advance their sound. Enlisting Sam Cohen of Apollo Sunshine fame to produce the album, his influence is felt all over Callisto. The band’s sound is still warm and folky but there is a new brightness accented by flourishes of psychedelia.
The album’s lead single, “Solitude” sounds almost like Vampire Weekend with the finger-plucked guitar and swirling synthesizers. It still features the tight harmonies that defined the band’s debut EP, but this is the sound of a band evolving before your ears.
