In generally, Brooklyn’s American Authors have a style that mixes alt-folk with straight pop-rock. While for some songs it can sound like Imagine Dragons with banjos, the style works perfectly to cover Lorde‘s “Royal.” The band converts the verses to just handclaps and banjos and they break out big harmonies and a more full band approach.
