With the civil unrest and pandemic still raging in the United States, it is easy to lose sight of global affairs. London-based band, Benin City teams up with Eklipse for “Hostiles,” a song protesting UK’s policy of Hostile Environment. “It was already a painful year, with the Tories, with Covid, with Windrush, with Boris,” the band said. “George Floyd is the latest casualty in this eternal war against black people’s right to exist, to work, to be happy, to love as we love.” Over serpentine synths and a driving beat, Joshua Idehen and Eklipse spit vitriolic flows about the barrage of government decision that still show inequality and hate.
All proceeds of the track will go to BLM UK.
