BP Infinite: Kill or Be Killed

Long Island-based producer, BP Infinite has worked with hip hop legends like Tragedy Khadafi and Shabaam Sahdeeq along with up-and-comers like Eddie Kaine and John Jigg$. On his new album, Kill or Be Killed, Infinite said “I wanted to make an album that sounds like the movie Bloodsport with a tournament of diverse, unique talent.” To do this, he called in many favors to gather a who’s who of New York artists.

The album’s titular track brings together acclaimed Brooklyn battle rapper, RJ Payne and veteran emcee, Skyzoo. Over a harpsichord-filled beat, the two trade lyrical barbs befitting of the song’s title. While “Street Vengeance” is a more natural fit of two rappers who have been at it for 30+ years: Tragedy Khadafi and Nature. Beginning with a kung fu movie soundclip, a Wu Tang Clan-esque beat unfurls allowing the two emcees to shine.

The album’s most notable feature is Redman on the track “Kill Squad.” Over a sample of The SCLC Operation Breadbasket Orchestra and Choir’s “Nobody Knows,” Redman spits an in-your-face flow speckled with witty wordplay. It is a shame it is one of the album’s shortest tracks at just over 1:40.

None of the album’s tracks are particularly long; only one, “Can’t Fuck With Me,” breaks the 3:30 mark. Because of this, it feels like none overstay their welcome. With fifteen tracks and over twenty-five guests, Kill or Be Killed looks hefty but it manages to be concise while holding no punches.

Kill or Be Killed is available now through all major digital retailers and streaming platforms, with 150 copies available on red-marble vinyl through Bandcamp and Get on Down, via Common Virtue Records.
