Last month, Cashavelly released her fourth album, Meditation through Gunfire. Surviving the Golden Age is excited to premiere the latest music video from the album, “Oyster.”
Directed by James Wiley, the video delivers visuals as stark as the song. It begins with Cashavelly lying naked in a field, partially covered in dirt. As the song develops, Cashavelly begins rubbing dirt into her skin until the second verse finds flowers blooming on her.
For a song that begins with just Cashavelly’s voice and piano before more instruments are slowly added to the mix, the video does an excellent job of mimicking that evolution visually. It shows that Cashavelly’s artistry doesn’t just stop with the music but extends into other realms.
