On the same day, Charli XCX announced details of her sophomore album Sucker (release October 21), she also dropped her new single “Break the Rules.” As in her previously penned singles “I Love It” and “Fancy,” the track glorifies the fast life with a chorus about going to the “discotheque/getting high and getting wrecked.” It is kind of a dumb song but features a really nice acoustic breakdown that is a bit rare for this brand of dance pop.
