In 2011, Childish Gambino was posed to take over the rap world. Every year since his debut Camp, Donald Glove has less and less resembled a rapper. We arrive five years later, with his new single “Me and Your Mama.” The track is contains no rapping; in fact, most of the 6+ minute track is instrumental. It somewhere between The Life of Pablo-era Kanye West production and Lenny Kravitz. It is hard to see when “Me and Your Mama” fits within the Childish Gambino catalog but it would certainly appear a sharp new turn in direction is upon us.
