The Criticals “Mother of Style”

Nashville duo, The Criticals just released the third single from their debut LP, “Mother of Style.” Strongly resembling the Strokes, the track mixes garage rock fuzz with psychedelic lead guitar and distorted crooned vocals. Lead singer, Cole Shugart describes the track as “during this time, our town, Nashville was changing so quickly that it was impossible to feel at home. New apartments going up on top of old houses we used to play shows in or grew up hanging out at. The places we liked to frequent all of sudden would be gone when would come back from a tour. I think that feeling permeates this song.” It is a little bit of gentrification melancholy in the middle of a garage rock jam.
