On July 31, Amazon Music will release Amazon Acoustics, a playlist of cover songs and original music from more than 30 artists. One such song on the playlist is Deer Tick‘s “Grandfather Song.” John McCauley says of the track “[it] was originally a demo for our album Negativity. It didn’t wind up on the record, so I decided to revisit it recently and I finished the song in my spare time at home in Nashville.” The impassioned ballad is a bit tamer than what many might expect from the Deer Tick name but it certainly fits in with McCauley’s penchant for storytelling.
