DIIV “Under the Sun”

New York City’s very own DIIV are back with a new single titled “Under the Sun”. The indie rock group has stayed true to their roots, with barely decipherable lyrics and a bass line that makes the entire song sound like it’s being played in a dream. It’s certainly not as aggressive as “Doused”, but it does capture the feeling of warm weather and being totally carefree. Zachary Cole Smith’s vocals are hollow and ringing, a perfect fit for the rest of the band’s ethereal rhythm. The song’s instrumentals are lush and while the tempo isn’t necessarily fast, it’s definitely upbeat. With this track DIIV has simultaneously given us a brief respite from the cold months to come and left us wishing for summer, or at least February 5th, when their newest album Is the Is Are will officially release.
