Premiere: Duane Hoover “Sorrow” (The McCoys cover)

On April 25th, Duane Hoover will release his new album, Wayward Path. Surviving the Golden Age is excited to premiere the album’s new single, “Sorrow.”

Originally by The McCoys, Hoover takes the proto-jangle pop tune and gives it a garage rock makeover. Noisy drums and the initial guitar strum is reminiscent of the Who‘s “Won’t Get Fooled Again.” Later in the song, the tremolo guitar is giving R.E.M.‘s “What’s the Frequency, Kenneth” vibes.

It is clear Duane Hoover takes his queues from some of rock music’s greats and in the process he delivers a great cover himself.
