California songwriter Edward Herda is release his album, Goodnight Jaybird on March 28th. Surviving the Golden Age is excited to premiere his new single “Father’s Son.” The song’s roots are in finding humor in grim situations. Herda said of the song “This song came out after visiting my dad, who has alzheimer’s, after his initial diagnosis. I actually had a good laugh when the hospital staff told me how he tried to ‘take out’ the biggest guy in the ward, pulled the fire alarm, and was hitting on the nurses. ‘Yup, sounds like my old man.’ I suppose that even if our minds go, our spirits never die.” The raucous spirit of his father is reflected in the song’s energetic folk which is reminiscent of Bob Dylan‘s “On the Road Again.”
