Des Moines duo, elison just released their second single, “Hopes & Horoscopes.” The mid-tempo indie rock track is built around a strummed acoustic guitar backbone and singer, Marissa Kephart’s dynamic vocals. As she sings about bad habits and vices, her voice goes from the fairly monotone verses to a soaring chorus, showing her full range. It is wonderful and transformative.
