Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter, Grant Swift (no relation to Taylor) is preparing to release his new LP, Transformation on April 28th. Surviving the Golden Age is excited to premiere the album.
Album opener, “Story Tumbling,” sets the tone for Transformation. Featuring delicate guitar arpeggios and Swift’s falsetto vocals, the track shows an artist who is skilled in writing folk with poppy hooks but also is willing to experiment. Swells of strings and added vinyl surface noise keeps the track interesting and unexpected.
“What Are You Saying” is one of the more uptempo songs on the album and a repeating warning siren in the background helps cement its sense of urgency. Esoteric percussion helps propel lead single, “Be There” along. These extras help add texture to the album while not detracting from Swift’s songwriting.
