Whenever I hear a song like “Used to Be” by Hollywood FLOSS, I think of Woody Allen’s “Midnight in Paris.” So many people have an interesting romance with the past which occasionally is a bit of rose colored glasses. In the track, Hollywood raps “MTV used to play videos all day long/you used to have to tape the radio to get new songs.” While these two things maybe true, is it really that much better than having the power of the internet where a higher power is not picking what you view or listen to but it is all at your fingertips to discover on your own? There is a decent chance in a world which MTV and radio was the only way to get out there, Hollywood Floss wouldn’t be where he is today.
