Los Angeles-based trio, Iconique just dropped an EP of remixes of their debut single, “Step Into the Mood.” Surviving the Golden Age is excited to premiere the video for the single. The band describes their sound as “synth-disco” and the video for “Step Into the Mood” is basically as synth-disco as it gets. In a smoky black box, the band plays. Frontman Leo Paparella is dressed in a tuxedo with a big white corsage, reminiscent of Taco in his 1982 video for “Puttin on the Ritz.” While Paparella and company do a choreographed dance to the music, “Step Into the Mood” plays out like a track straight from Studio 54. With Paparella’s flamboyant appearance and falsetto vocals evoking memories of disco icons like Sylvester, Iconique seem from a bygone era but they make it look and sound so good!
