Maggie Rogers is readying her Capitol Records debut album, Heard It In A Past Life for release on January 18, 2019. The album’s lead single is “Light On.” Written by Rogers, the song was produced by Greg Kurstin of The Bird and the Bee fame and Kid Harpoon who is a frequent co-writer with Florence + the Machine. Because of that pedigree, it may be no surprise that “Light On” feels poppier than Rogers’ previous efforts. With its shuffling beat and layered vocal harmonies, it is reminiscent of Haim with less guitar which isn’t a bad thing at all.
