The sun was setting over the Tampa horizon. Folks from all over Florida gathered to see Aviana, Windwaker, Like Moths To Flames, and Australia’s Make Them Suffer.
Aviana started the set with their futuristic look. Three of the members spoke no
words and were unidentified. They held together the mystery of who was behind the
masks of Aviana. So much so that when communicating with fans, their only response
would either be a thumbs up or thumbs down. Quite the mysterious but amazing group.
When performing the band brought the energy. Coordinated spins and interlinked
movements made their set a complete performance. So much energy that the vocalist,
Joel Holmqvist started what may have been the biggest wall of death The Orpheum has
seen.
Windwaker brought a different type of music to the stage: a very fast paced, almost EDM type metal. Samples were played by a member on stage with a pad board, loaded with all types of sounds that echoed throughout the entire venue. Hands were up as the sun finally set. Dark struck with harder music from Windwaker. The crowd surfing began as Windwaker played their heavy beats and heavier riffs.
Like Moths To Flames began their set with large amounts of anticipation from the
Tampa area, the crowd expressed their love for LMTF as soon as the first step was taked on stage. LMTF started the set off with their 2024 single, “Soul Exchange.” Fans
jumped and shouted as the song blasted through the venue. Many die-hard fans lived
for this moment. Their eyes and chants showed the love they have for third opening
band to come on. Next up was Like Moth To Flames most popular song to date.
“Habitual Decline.” A song that delivers scary heavy riffs but within the three minutes
and twelve seconds also deliver beautiful clean vocals. With this song being their most
popular, everyone threw punches and released what Like Moths To Flames could let
out. The set consisted of eight songs, all being new and older music from their
discography. The crowd took to the sky with their flashlights and lighters as “Nowhere
Left to Sink” rang out. The group ended off their set with “Lord of bones.” The crowd
ended with a roar for one of their favorite bands, but the show wasn’t over. Next up,
Make Them Suffer.
Make Them Suffer entered the stage with loud applause from their fan
base in Florida. The band started off with the song, “Epitaph.” The crowd chanted
every single word to the first song that played. Goes to show how a band all the
way across the world can make their music into ears all across the world. The set
was 13 songs long and had some of their most recent releases. Fog filled the
stage and crowd creating an eerie feeling. Heavy riffs pulsed out through the
stage and into the die-hard fans. Fans moshed and pushed their way though the
tightly packed space. Bodies surfed from the back of the crowd all the way to the
barricade. Make Them Suffer caused a great feeling that night. Not only amongst
themselves, but for the fans as well. The night came to an end with people from
all over chanting words about their love for MTS.
