New York’s Matt Shapiro is preparing to release his album, Fade In on March 8th. Surviving the Golden Age is excited to premiere his new single, “The Addict.”
The verses are inspired by pop minimalism, only featuring vocals, fuzzed out bass, and minimalist drums. The verses pump up the volume with full drums, synth strings, and piano. The song sounds inspired by 80s new wave like the Human League or New Order but it’s clearly modern. The urgency in the drums and vocals make the song feel just as itchy as an addict would. It shows a mastery of words and music working in harmony.
