Champaign, IL-based band, Nectar just released their second single, “Fishy.” The song was written after lead singer/guitarist Kamila Glowicki binge-watched the MTV show Catfish. Beginning with a sludgy bassline, Glowicki’s vocals cut through the mix: “am I a jerk? Or am I just naive/it doesn’t make me stupid to want to believe.” The grunge-tinged atypical love song goes on from there but it doesn’t get much better than those opening lines.
