Labelled as “post-EDM’s greatest hope,” Porter Robinson drops a song completely about hope. “Sad Machine” features a chorus of “we depend on you,” as if EDM’s children are calling to Porter to lead them in a new direction. That direction seems to ethereal beats, uplifting synths, and female vocals. To Robinson’s credit, the sound really is captivating.
