Shawn Alpay has played cello on albums for the likes of Matt Pond, John Vanderslice, and others. His new project is called Completions and they will be releasing an eponymous new EP on October 9th. Surviving the Golden Age is please to premiere the album track, “Combs.” As a band of one, Alpay sings over a plucked cello giving the song the quiet hush of artists like Elliot Smith or Sufjan Stevens. Thoughtful and emotional, “Combs” is the kind of song that sticks with you.
