On March 14th, 2025, St. Lucia will release their fifth LP Fata Morgana: Dawn via Nettwerk. The album’s latest single is “Pie In The Sky.” Born out of a live band session in early 2020, the song has an epic feel reminiscent of Harry Styles‘ “Sign of the Times.” It begins with Jean-Philip Grobler singing over a sparse instrumental before exploding into a lush chorus. Grobler said “Many of my favorite songs and pieces of music have an element of the feeling of the gates of heaven opening, like you’re entering a new and fantastical world full of hope, possibility and also danger, and I have to say I think that this song has that quality. We truly didn’t hold anything back in this song, I was aspiring to the levels reached by artists like ELO, Abba, David Bowie, and Kate Bush, and in many ways I borrowed (not intentionally, just subconsciously) from that 1970’s orchestral-pop world. We have strings, Aly & AJ doing backup vocals like a choir of angels, Mark Foster (of Foster The People) playing the tubular bells like some distant god, of course the core St. Lucia band of Dustin Kaufman, Patti Beranek, Nicky Paul and Ross Clark playing live in the room together…the whole thing just feels like an epic journey.”
