If you were looking for Myanmar on a map, it is to the east of India, south of China and west of Vietnam. Luckily there is nothing in Ten Million Lights‘ new single, “Myanmar” that requires you to know anything about the country. Over the two minutes and fifteen seconds, Ten Million Lights bombards you with a wall-of-guitar sound over driving drums. Their shoegaze approach to vocals lets them carry the melody but it takes some effort to decipher them. The band describes the lyrics as “highly imaginative about looking over the Event Horizon into a black hole to try and meet your maker only to find out its a praying mantis lizard who is turning our sun into a crystal” but there is really no way to double check that.
