Chicago-based, Troigo (nee David Arias) is preparing to release his new LP, Vol. 1 in December. Surviving the Golden Age is excited to premiere the album’s next single, “Dust In The Water.”
“This song was written after dealing with a messy breakup a year ago,” says Arias “The lyrics are about me second guessing myself and wondering whether or not I did all I could have done to help the relationship and how it ultimately led me to this moment in time, feeling stuck, but having to accept that that’s okay.” Arias’ falsetto vocals are drenched in reverb as they lilt over the track’s driving drums, chugging bass, and angular guitars. Instrumentally, it reminds me of Bloc Party up until the guitar solo outro which shows shades of Fang Island or Adebisi Shank. The unexpected outro sound gives the dreamy track a memorable extra bit of whimsy.
