Wild Nothing “Reichpop”

Wild Nothing, known for dreamy, ephemeral tunes such as “A Dancing Shell” is back with a new single. “Reichpop” starts off with faraway ringing before a xylophone is introduced, and then lush, atmospheric synth. Lyrics don’t come in until the two-minute mark, but when they do, they bring the song to life and make it sound as if it’s been recorded somewhere distant and tropical. Jack Tatum’s voice is hushed, but still immediate and captivating, as if he’s making direct eye contact with you as he sings. The music sways easy and the tempo never gets ahead of itself, and it’s this patience that allows the song to thrive. In the end Wild Nothing have managed to create something that moves slowly, but still feels as if it’s over too soon.
