On May 17th, Carly Rae Jepsen will release her fourth studio album, Dedicated. The latest single from the album “Julien” she said “taught me the heart and direction of this album.” A song about missing and wanting, “Julien” is the least 80s sounding song Jepsen has released this decade. Mixing elements of deep house and nu-disco, the song is still as poppy as hits like “Call Me Maybe” or “I Really Like You” but sounds more mature with the new production direction. Hopefully, Jepsen isn’t leaving bubblegum pop completely behind but the new sound really works for her.
