Last summer, rising Nashville indie-folk artists John Shakespear and Bea Troxel were asked to collaborate on a cover of Chris Isaak‘s classic “Wicked Game” by producer Devon Dawson and co-producer Jonathann Rice. Surviving the Golden Age is excited to premiere Jonathann Rice’s remix of the track.
The remix of the song is reminiscent of Born to Die-era Lana Del Rey with its airy, atmospheric production. No where is that more apparent than on the Bea Troxel sung second verse. The production unfolds a little more towards the end and running harpsichord arpeggios give the outro a nice baroque pop feel without losing any of the sexiness of the song.
