Plenty of rappers have released singles filled with rock band name check (pecifically I’m thinking of Non Phixion‘s “The C.I.A. is Trying to Kill Me” or Shop Boyz “Party Like a Rockstar”) but Kokayi is taking it to a new level on “RoxTar”. He name checks everyone from Gym Class Heroes to The Psychedelic Furs. The single presents the track in two different lights, the more traditional hip hop version and the bounce version which features “bombastic thrashing rock drums”.
