Despite the extremely uncatchy band name, 0171, the London duo’s new single “Photograph” is very catchy. The male/female duet mixes elements of indie pop and darkwave. When Joe Bedell-Brill is singing, the backdrop features airy synth strings and minimalist trap drums but when Georgie Hoare sings, the track darkens with distorted synths and a new drum beat. It is interesting to hear the contrasting tones the music sets for each vocalist.
