Alice Glass “Without Love”

As much as I want to start off this piece talking about Alice Glass’ stint in her previous band, she deserves to have her solo body of work reviewed without comparison. So, here we go.

Dark-electro songstress, Alice Glass, released her first single, “Stillbirth” as a solo artist back in “2015”. After that, we didn’t hear too much from Alice, except that some of her new songs “sound more like being eaten by fire ants and some songs are like being slowly consumed by a snake.” Her new song that she just dropped “Without Love” sounds like neither, but rather a subdued and melodic, glitchy dark electro hallucinatory instrumental in the vein of electro band HEALTH’s tracks.

Alice’s vocals have a sweet and angelic tone to it, but the hook can get a little repetitive after a couple listens. The music video is a gorgeous array of imagery, featuring a latex-dressed Alice placed in various beds of pretty flowers and thorns with blood dripping down her arms. In other words the video is like if a pastel goth’s Tumblr came to life, but it flows well with the song.

Glass also has announced a tour where she will support Marilyn Manson during many stops all over North America. Take a listen and check out the tour dates below.
