As far as band’s that sound old timey go, Christopher Denny might be the old-timiest. His latest single “If The Roses Don’t Kill Us” sounds like it was found in the attic of a New Orleans plantation. The track mixes New Orleans jazz and blues with Denny’s golden age of gospel voice. His voice is androgynous like so many of the gospel singers of the 30s and 40s. He could easily be the new lead voice of the Soul Stirrers or Delta Rhythm Boys. A bygone era has never sounded as good as it does on “If The Roses Don’t Kill Us.”
