Premiere: Cytrus: Concentrate

Seattle eight piece, Cytrus are releasing their new album, Concentrate on October 21st. Surviving the Golden Age is excited to premiere a stream of the album.

Your eyes do not deceive you; the stream is just one long hour-and-eight-minute track. Despite having a tracklisting with ten song titles, the album was recorded to play seamlessly as one track. With whirling synths welcoming you into the band’s retro-future world, the record begins with the most straight-forward funk song, “Genesis” which eventually gives way to the more laidback “Dos.” As the album develops, you hear influences of jazz fusion, hip hop, disco and more.

Thematically, the record charts the philosophical, emotional journey from darkness to light. Band member, Jared Squires describes it as “a full frontal assault of your senses! Groovy, entrancing, polished. Just plain epic!”
