Lewis Del Mar touring bassist and co-writer of the theme song for Comedy Central series, “Alternatino,” Drew Hart is preparing to release his debut single, “Firewood.” Surviving the Golden Age is excited to premiere the track.
It is hard not to listen to Drew Hart’s voice and not immediately think of Elliott Smith. Although it has an acoustic guitar backbone, the track doesn’t sound like typical singer/songwriter fare. With shuffling drums and a repeating piano melody, the song sounds more reminiscent of Peter Bjorn & John‘s “Young Folks” than most of Smith’s work. The lyrics “about impermanence and joy,” says Hart, does leave the listener with a sense of melancholy and longing by the end.
